Timmy smith on a 5’10” Cobra - sri lanka’s southern province

about arc surfboards

Shaper, designer, and glasser Timmy Smith has been working with fiberglass and composites since he started working for his father’s custom kit car manufacturing company at 16, and the ARC label was created in May of 2019. The combination of progressive and traditional shapes with ultra-clean laminations has been at the core of ARC’s expansion. We want to push experimentation with new designs while honoring current and traditional styles to ensure there is a shape for everyone.

Tiverton, Rhode Island

The home of Arc Surfboards is in Tiverton Rhode Island. About 15 minutes from Newport, and an hour from Boston. For the last two years since setting up shop here, every board has been pumped out of this space. Now, I use the Tiverton factory to build small batches of customs, stock boards, and my personal boards when I get the chance.

Wilmington, North Carolina

In October of 2021, we teamed up with Kenny Briel and Shawn O’Donnell at the Savage Surfboards factory in North Carolina. I flew down, shaped a batch of 12, and it felt like a second home. There’s a good chance I will build your board down in NC while the New England winter lingers on.
